The Christo's Coins

The Christos Coins story is the definitive telling of an early Christian legend passed down through time to the present. A number of silver coins were secreted in our Lord Jesus Christ’s cloak. These were sewn there by one of his followers, without his knowing. The coins would serve as a way of securing Jesus’ release should he be detained by the Romans in one of the many controlled areas he traveled through. By doing this, they would always be at hand for his follower to use as a bribe for his captors to look the other way. This was common practice in the day and enabled a person to avoid having to face the formal documentation of Roman court attendance. The consequences of the roman legal system was often dire for the common people of the Holy Lands at that time.

They were not used, and for what reason we will never know.

The coins were retrieved some time after our Lord’s murder. They were marked and kept hidden from the Romans for centuries. It is now known that they were taken to Europe by the Crusaders along with many other valuable effects from the time of Jesus and the disciples.

One coin is known to still exist.
